Brian Berger Brian Berger, Pastor of Area Ministries
Brian was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. Following his greatest passion, baseball, he landed in the company of Tyler Johnson (EVBC pastor and elder) on the ASU baseball team. His idea of faith in Christ was challenged as he was introduced to young men who’s Christianity was more than just a label. Brian came to EVBC in 1999 and got involved in the college group where he met his wife Julie Dorris. After finishing his degree at ASU, Brian and Julie helped plant East Valley Bible Church Tempe. God opened the door for Brian to teach at Tempe High School where he also coached freshman football and varsity baseball. Julie joined him at Tempe High working in the front office before she had their kids Katelyn and Tyler. After a season of trying circumstances, they returned to EVBC confused, hurt, and critical. Brian and Julie both agree that experiencing God’s love in the context of gospel community in their home group was their greatest source of healing. The Bergers have been back at East Valley Bible Church for eight years now and have been involved in home groups in Gilbert and Chandler. Brian joins our staff from the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes where he served as the director of the Sport Camp Outreach.

Aaron Bower Aaron Bower, The Chapel Worship Leader / Bookstore Manager
Aaron was born in Mesa, Arizona in 1973.  He is the youngest of six children, and was raised in a Christian home.  At the age of 5, Aaron started studying the piano as a performance instrument, and he studied it formally until he was 24.  His second job was managing the music department for a large Christian Bookstore in Mesa.  In 1991, Aaron moved to Flagstaff to pursue a degree in music education at Northern Arizona University - a degree which he would continue at Arizona State University.
While in college, Aaron’s desire to walk with Christ increased as he was involved in campus ministry.  His heart was changed, and the fruit of conversion became more evident.  After getting married, his desire for a healthy church led him and his wife to East Valley Bible Church in 1998.  In December of 2000, Aaron accepted a position with Random House Book Publishing in Colorado Springs, where he served as sales manager.  Not able to find a healthy local church in Colorado, Aaron and his wife moved back to Arizona in June 2002 to re-join the ministry staff at East Valley Bible Church.
Aaron serves as Worship Leader and as Bookstore Manager for East Valley.
Aaron and his wife Debbie live in Chandler with their children, Harrison, and Makenna.

Matt Driesbach Matt Driesbach, Pastor of Student Ministries
Matt was born and raised in the Midwest, spending most of his impressionable years in the Chicago suburbs.  He moved to AZ in 1998 shortly after getting married to his wife Jennifer.  They both enjoyed growing up in loving Christian homes.  While in Jr. High and High School, God used student ministries to shape and give purpose to Matt’s life.  It was during this time that Matt truly grew a desire to minister to students.
After graduating high school in 1995, Matt began to pursue his true passion in life, marrying his high school sweetheart Jennifer.  A career in construction and carpentry began as another passion, and a means to support the first passion of getting married.  With the desire for ministry on the back burner, God began to move through circumstances to call Matt to serve EVBC in the student ministries.  Tim Maughan (Elder and Executive Pastor) was Matt’s High School pastor and a great friend.  Tim moved to AZ in 1997 to be a part of EVBC and this opened Matt and Jen’s eyes to the possibility of beginning a new life together in AZ.
In January of 2001, Matt came on fulltime staff at EVBC.  His passion is to see true life change in students.  The gospel should bring not only salvation, but real lasting change.  He desires to see the incredible truth of this gospel save and transform students into young men and women who become more and more like Jesus.
Matt and Jen have been blessed with two awesome kids.  Micah Jadin was born in July of 2001 and Madison Jesse was born in October of 2002. . . incredible blessings.

Curtis Field Curtis Field, Pastor of Compassion
Curtis Field was born and raised in California. One night when he was 21 and least expected it, God opened his eyes to see how sinful and in need of a Savior he was. After not praying for years he cried out to God and gave his life to Him. It was not long after he was saved that God brought the woman who was to be his wife into his life, and they were married one year later. It has been their joy to see God grow them to be more like His Son, Jesus Christ, ever since.
Curtis and Angela moved to Arizona in 1994 where Curtis received his Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State University in 1995. EVBC became their church home in 1997, and they were blessed to serve in the High School Ministry and subsequently the Home Group ministry. In early 2004, Curtis severely broke his back, had extensive surgery to repair the damage, and fractured it a second time 6 months later. Doctors discovered that he has osteoporosis (brittle bone disease). In late 2004, he became the intern to Compassion Ministries with Dave Moore. It was his great privilege and blessing to be brought on staff at EVBC full time in 2005 as the Area Pastor of the Queen Creek area (now the Gilbert/Queen Creek area) and the Pastor of Compassion Ministries. In 2007, he graduated from the 3 year East Valley Bible Church Training Center.
Curtis and Angela have four precious daughters named Adrianna, Savannah, Alyssa, and Tiana.

Jim Harper Jim Harper, Pastor of Area Ministries
Jim was trained through internship programs at Grace Community Church (Tempe) and Scottsdale Bible Church. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Arizona College of the Bible. Jim has been in full time vocational ministry since 1985.
His life long passion is to see God’s kingdom grow up (sanctification) and out (evangelism). He deeply believes that one of the key ways that God grows His church is through the power of relationships. He believes the Bible teaches that the gospel is best spread through personal contact and that the believers grow best when relationally connected to one another. These convictions have led Jim to a highly relational approach to ministry which would include friendship evangelism, one-on-one discipleship, mentoring and small groups of all types.

Josue Lopez Josue Lopez, Associate Pastor of Latino and Community Ministries
I was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.  I grew up in a family that served the Lord full time.  I met the Lord at the age of 15 years when I realized that being part of a Christian family should not save me but it was necessary to give my whole life to Christ.
I finished my university years and got a degree in Business Administration at the University of Sonora, and I worked in the Municipal Government of Hermosillo for 6 years.  Between 1995-2004 I served the Lord in Maranatha Evangelical Church in Hermosillo in worship ministry and in leadership of Young.  It was at this time that God taught me a lot of things.
I met my wife Mayra in our church in Hermosillo.  God had allowed us to serve together in some ministries since we were singles until October 2001, when we decided to join our lives and got married, and the return of the year our Lord blessed us with a great gift, our first son Josue Misael and Michelle completed our blessed family five years later.
God has placed a special burden on me to work and reach out to Latinos in the United States. In late 2004 the Lord called us to serve full time at East Valley Bible Church in Community & Global Engagement and to serve the Hispanic people in the area.

Justin Marshall Justin Marshall, Pastor of Children's Ministries
I was born in Detroit, Michigan. I spent the first part of my life growing up in a Baptist church where I learned to be a good kid on the outside. I was morally compliant but I knew there must be more. After my father accepted a job offer; my brother Eric, myself and our parents moved to Arizona. I started junior high in Arizona and quickly realized all the temptations the world has to offer and found myself drifting from the things of God. In 1998 after attending East Valley Bible Church for a couple years; God opened my eyes and changed my heart. I have been serving on staff with the Student Ministries since I graduated from Mesa High School in 1999. In March of 2003 I married my wife Nicole Bennett who was also an active member of our student ministries. In May of that same year I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors Degree in Communications and accepted a full time position at EVBC. Since then I have served as the Associate Junior High Pastor until accepting the full time position of Junior High Pastor in January of 2007. Junior High Ministries is an exciting place to serve; giving students the foundation needed to build on the truths of the Christian faith. In 2008 I had the privilege of coming along side the Children’s Ministry staff as the Children’s Pastor as they serve the families of EVBC. Children's ministries is an amazing place to see God use the simple truths of the gospel to grow families. Nicole and I have two beautiful daughters, Sophie and Ashlyn and we are happy to call EVBC our home and love the opportunity to serve such a wonderful group of people.
